Doctor

  • Julie T Schell , B.Sc. (Hons.), D.V.M., C.V.A., C.V.C.H.M., C.V.C.


    Dr. Julie Schell, owner of Bow Bottom Veterinary Hospital, graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan.  She was born and raised in Calgary and completed a Bachelor of Science in Honours Zoology at the University of Calgary.  Veterinary medicine is her passion.  Dr. Schell enjoys writing animal health columns for pet magazines and has appeared on A-Channel's Big Breakfast and CityTV's Breakfast TV to discuss animal health.  Dr. Schell was awarded the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association Young Vet of the Year in 2006.  Dr. Schell thoroughly enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and has special interests in surgery, diagnostic imaging, acupuncture, chiropractic, oncology, nutrition, ophthalmology, herbal medicine and dentistry. She is able to use a combination of Conventional/Western as well as Eastern medicine to help her patients.  She is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.  She is also certified in animal chiropractic by the College of Animal Chiropractors and the Animal Chiropractic Certification Commission of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association.  A Shiba Inu, a Siamese cat, a Border Canary and a Quaker Parrot comprise her pet family.

  • Tracey Ruzicka , rAHT, VPM


    Tracey grew up in Southern Saskatchewan on a mixed cattle and grain farm and, as a little girl, was always surrounded by animals. Tracey graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Lakeland College in 1998. She joined the Bow Bottom team in the summer of 2001.  Tracey has  been taking registered Veterinary Management training courses and is a very competent veterinary practice manager.  She is in charge of helping direct hospital developments and improvements, human resorces and client satisfaction.  An excellent problem solver, Tracey is always ready to perfect client service and patient care! Tracey loves to visit with all clients and their pets. She has 2 cats of her own - Shaka and Zeuko.

Technician

  • Erin P , rAHT


    Erin is a registered Animal Health Technologist, who graduated from Olds College.  She loves animals and can't wait to take care of yours!  Erin's special interests include puppy education and helping overweight pets lose the extra pounds.  She owns an adorable Westhighland White Terrier named Scamp.  Vetsuite_Img_40423

    Hannah is a recent graduate from Olds College. She was a part of the first online class for the college. She first started volunteering at bow bottom in 2006 and now is a registered AHT. She loves learning and exploring new things within small animal medicine. Her areas of interest include anesthesia and dentistry. In her spare time she enjoys snowboarding and being active. She owns a little tortie cat named Sookie, that keeps her busy the rest of the time.

Veterinary Office Assistants

    Maddie gratuated with honors from Robertson College and joined the Bow Bottom team in July 2010. At home she has a rambunctious Shih-Tzu mix named Roxxi, and loves to meet new patients. In her spare time, she enjoys creative writing and horseback riding.

  • Leanne B , VOA


    Leanne graduated last year from Robertson College as a Veterinary Office Assistant with honors, and immediately started working in the field. Leanne is a very recent addition to the Bow Bottom team, and is excited for her future at the veterinary hospital. She owns two cats, an old sod named Misty, and a 4 year old tabby, Kokanee; both rescued. Her future plans include owning a rescued dog (or 4) and tech school is also not out of the question. Animal photography and horseback riding are among Leanne's favorite downtime things to do. Leanne loves to play around with the daycare regulars and makes sure they get lots of love while they're here! Vetsuite_Img_144843

Extended Care/Day Care

  • Darcie L


    Darcie is part of our boarding and daycare facility. She cares for every pet that comes to visit and hopes they will all return to see her at some point for more vacations! Getting outside to exercise the dogs by running or playing is an exciting part of Darcie's job and making stressed cats and dogs feel comfortable is a huge priority to her. Darcie has volunteered for many years in positive reinforcement dog training classes and has an interest in animal behaviour which she intends to learn more about. She has a very loving, playful, spoiled Miniature Pinscher, that puts a big smile on her face everyday!Vetsuite_Img_157640
