Dr. Schell thoroughly enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and has special interests in surgery, diagnostic imaging, acupuncture, chiropractic, oncology, nutrition, ophthalmology, herbal medicine, essential oil therapy and dentistry. She is able to use a combination of conventional/Western as well as Eastern medicine to help her patients. Registered Veterinary Technicians

Katie Crawford, RVT (left)

Telisa Kapcsos, RVT (right)

I have been a Registered Veterinary Technologist for 3 years and have worked in the veterinary field for over 5 years. I love helping animals and their people. As a pet owner my entire life I know how it feels to be confused and overwhelmed by the treatment and care that is needed for our pets, my mission is to help pet owners understand their pet’s needs and care in an easy, low stress way so they can grow that special human-animal bond they will share for many happy years with their pets.

If you don’t find me in the clinic, you will probably find me loving on my own pets, a senior mini dachshund (my favorite breed but don’t tell the others) and my cat.

One of my favorite parts of working in a vet clinic is helping anxious pets feel more relaxed and to provide care and treatment in a way that they are comfortable with! I love︎ Happy Visits!

Laura Goodman, Assistant Hospital Manager

Laura is our Assistant Hospital Manager and you’ll often see her friendly face manning the front desk here at Bow Bottom Veterinary Hospital.  She leads our team with compassion and trust, also filling the important role as our physical and psychological safety officer.

Laura comes from a background in education which comes in handy because she is used to adapting to the needs of a busy environment and changing “hats” on a dime.

She is extremely passionate about working with shy animals and has a timid rescue of her own, Belle. Laura works one-on-one with our most anxious patients to build a strong and positive relationship with our clinic and team.  She takes the time to help each animal and their pet parent feel comfortable and loved in our hospital, whether they’re in for a simple nail trim or a big surgery.

Hayley Koster, Extended Care Facility Manager (left)

Hayley is our Extended Care Facility Manager but you’ll often find her working in our hospital too.  She’s the perfect person to manage our busy boarding and daycare because she’s used to a busy environment- she has five kids, including two sets of twins born within two years of each other!  Hayley and her big family live with three dogs, Jinger, Waylon, and Honey, and a tortoiseshell cat named Stimpy.

Hayley is usually the creative force behind our fun client appreciation events and initiatives.  She loves making each patient’s stay a blast, whether they’re here for a day or a month.

Hayley leads her team with gumption and grace, helping us build our amazing team of “unicorns,” those rare people who have it all: brains, empathy, and passion!

Christine Campbell, Hospital Manager (BSc, Dipl.)

Christine has many passions, and splits her time between our hospital, where she serves as our Hospital Manager, a charitable organization called ALUS Canada where she works as a biologist and provincial hub manager, and a seasonal Halloween attraction called Haunted Calgary, which she owns.

With diplomas in Animal Sciences and Non-Profit Management and her degree in Biological Sciences, and a penchant for continuing education, Christine fills a number of roles for us, morphing to our daily needs.

Christine spent over a decade working with animal rescue organizations and is passionate about helping senior pets, the underdogs, and the most difficult cases. She can often be found “nerding out” helping our clients to learn more about pet nutrition- she used to work as a pet nutritionist so it’s a clear passion area for her.

Christine has two cats, Angus and Charlie, a dog named Fancy, and a guinea pig named Timon. She lives in our community and loves walks in Fish Creek Park with Fancy.

Lexi, the “real” boss of Bow Bottom

Lexi rules the roost!  She makes sure that each of us tows the line and she is in charge of approving all new treats.

Veterinary Assistants & Animal Care Attendants & Support Staff

Our team is dedicated to providing a loving, fear-free environment for your pet, treating each patient like our own beloved pet.

Our team completes frequent continuing education to bring the highest quality knowledge and skills to your pets’ care.

Paige & Heather

Kara is a highschool student with honours, born and living in Calgary, and works at Bow Bottom Veterinary Hospital part-time as a casual support. Her duties mainly consist of cleaning exam rooms, the treatment room, reception area and kennels. But Kara loves helping out with appointments and caring for the different dogs and cats admitted to the hospital whenever she gets the chance. She understands the importance of being a reliable team member and seeks to bring that reliability to patients as their care and comfort is of utmost importance to her. Kara and her family own a golden retriever, cocker spaniel and poodle mix named RJ.

Kingston is one of Dr. Schell’s dogs, but he has an important job in the clinic, security!
